Hours after the release of Filipino peacekeeping forces taken hostage by Syrian rebels, other UN observers came under fire. No member of the UN Disengagment Observer Forces (UNDOF) was hurt. Nevertheless, a UN Spokesman said that the safety of the forces was under "very active review." The 1,000 observers come from the Philippines, Austria and India. Japan pulled their forces last year, and Croatia announced that it will withdraw its forces soon. Night patrols by UNDOF have already been suspended, according to Agence France Presse.
