About 40 Turkish nationalists have attacked five German soldiers who were shopping in civilian clothing in the southern town of Iskenderun. The Germans had recently arrived in Turkey to operate the Patriot missile batteries Ankara has demanded NATO dispatch along the country's border with Syria. A Turkish military official quoted by the AFP suggested that maybe the nationalists confused the Germans for Americans.
