Sperling endorses electric cars, avoids stand on new drilling

Sperling praised a bill by Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., and Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., that would give federal money to "deployment communities" for electric vehicle infrastructure support and incentives. The bill, titled the Promoting Electric Vehicles Act, is also backed by Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo. He attended the event with Alexander.

Sperling called their legislation an "excellent bill" and added, " I believe so much in that type of thing."
