Jordan's Islamic Action Front, which the Washington Post describes as the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, is escalating protests in the lead-up to the country's January 23 parliamentary elections. Analysts have pointed to a critical qualitative shift in the Muslim Brotherhood's tactics and rhetoric, which until recently had studiously avoided criticism of the country's Hashemite rulers and the sitting King Abdullah II. The Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood may be seeking to move the Arab Spring into Jordan and to replicate the successes of its Tunisian and Egyptian counterparts.
