His nomination has won the public support of the Advanced Biofuels Association, which is made up of companies that see the Defense Department as a critical early customer that will help boost production and lower the cost of fuels from biomass and other non-corn sources.
"Based on Sen. Hagel’s record and understanding of biofuels and energy security, we expect he will be a strong proponent of advanced biofuels and continue the initiatives currently underway at the Department of Defense," said Mike McAdams, president of the group.
