China is blasting the U.S. after Maria Otero, the US's special co-ordinator for Tibetan issues, suggested that China's policy of limiting Tibentan sovereignty and religious expression, which has triggered dozens of self-immolations in recent years, was complicating American efforts to engage Beijing. The Chinese expressed themselves "extremely dissatisfied" with the "utterly disgusting" criticism and blamed the self-immolations on the Dalai Lama. The Guardian reports.
