The BBC's chief international correspondent recounts a December interview with Ennahda head Rachid Ghannouchi, by way of emphasizing that the country - which is desscribed as "unraveling" into political turmoil - is viewed by analysts as a bellwether for the prospects of Arab Spring success. The assassination of prominent opposition figure Chokri Belaid last Wednesday triggered street protests, in response to which Ennahda Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali called for the installation of a new government of technocrats pending new elections. His move was rejected by other Ennahda party figures.
