A key database - USAspending.gov - has increased government transparency but still has some issues to fix according to a report by the Government Accountability Office.
Launched in 2007, USAspending contains data about government contracts and how much contractors are paid. The GAO said in 2009 that many problems existed in the system, but the current report commended the White House's Office of Management and Budget for fixing most of the issues.
However, there are still a few problems, GAO said. For example, OMB is suppose to deliver an annual report to Congress on how the site is being used, but so far has only produced one such report.
